The Jazz Planets @ Symphony Hall

This is a series of workshops based around the "Welcome to the Jazz Planet" roadshow which has been visiting Derby Schools over the past year. The project centres around the newly commissioned piece of music "The Jazz Planets", arranged for a professional Big Band and School Choir. Scores and audio extracts of the piece can be found in the composition section. The piece was performed with pupils from Asterdale Primary School and the East Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra took on May 6th 2005 at Symphony Hall Birmingham and was a great success. Long Eaton Carnival Education Project

This is an Arts Council project which will support the local Carnival (www.longeatoncarnival.org.uk). It will involve young musicians and vocalists from local schools with the view to introducing them to jazz and work towards a performance of the material within these workshops sessions.

EMYJO @ IAJE 2005/6

In January 2005 EMYJO had the honour of performing at the International Association of Jazz Educators Anuual Conference, held at the International Convention Centre, Long Beach, Los Angeles. This was a life changing event for all of us who attended and as such I have now applied for the 2006 conference in New York. More details to follow.
